Recommended path through Illustrator Series

Adobe Illustrator CS3

Adobe Illustrator CS3 is a vector-based drawing program, enabling the user to create graphics for print or electronic media.

We recommend that participants take the Adobe Illustrator CS3 courses in the following order: Illustrator 1: Shapes & Paths first and Illustrator 2: Layers, Text & Colors second. Following the second course, the Transformations and Filters, Effects & Exporting classes can be taken in any order.

Illustrator CS3 1: Shapes & Paths

Recommended Prerequisite: General knowledge of the Windows or Macintosh operating environment

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Navigate the Illustrator Environment
  • Create Simple Illustrations
  • Apply Basic Colors
  • Draw, Select and Edit Paths

Illustrator CS3 2: Layers, Text & Colors

Recommended Prerequisite: Illustrator CS3 1: Shapes & Paths

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Manipulate Layers
  • Insert Text
  • Adjust Type
  • Apply Fills and Gradients

Illustrator CS3: Transformations

Recommended Prerequisite: Illustrator CS3 2: Layers, Text & Colors

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Manipulate Paths
  • Enhance Fills and Strokes
  • Transform Shapes

Illustrator CS3: Filters, Effects & Exporting

Recommended Prerequisite: Illustrator CS3 2: Layers, Text & Colors

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Apply Filters and Effects
  • Convert Raster Images to Vector Art
  • Print Illustrations
  • Create Web Files
